[By the time Albert walks into Elle's room, Kiri has been here for some time, slumped in a chair at her bedside. The first thing out of his mouth is fired like the loose canon he is without her. Not much thought, but a whole lot of feeling.]
I can wake her. I can fix this.
[That crackle in his voice makes it sound a lot more like: I can protect her. This is my fault.Trust me. Just give me a chance.]
[He'd just come in to see if her condition had changed. Honestly, with so much to worry about, even if a sudden coma is high on the list he still takes a little solace in that it keeps Elle out of danger, and if things go poorly, will keep her from finding out what measures he may have to take.]
[If anything, that doubt lights an even greater fire under Kiri's ass.]
With my power. Flare doubles th'strength an' health of every person I touch. I stopped th'disease killin' Elle with it... Dead lifted five hundred ton barges with it. I can save her.

Powers aside, the subtext is obvious the way he looks to Albert; really, Kiri is asking for his blessing to go on that mission in one way or another.]
Elraine won't be coming with us, obviously. Will you be able to focus with her here and you not watching over her?
[They've been virtually inseparable since the moment Kiri arrived. Albert's not so certain how Kiri will function away from her, especially given Kiri's overactive and impatient tendencies.]
[That's all Kiri feels he needs to, and is able to say. The rest is all up to action. Hopefully Albert can feel that intention with all this honest, hopeful determination Kiri is latching onto.]
[The intention is noted, but Kiri is so brash and easily provoked that Albert's still not sure he wouldn't be more of a liability than an asset. But Hikaru and Shindou's words still ring in his ears and he has to wonder if he feels that way because he actually thinks it, or because he simply wants to keep him safe.]
Alright. But know that the second you disregard an order or go off on your own - if you put any of us in jeopardy including yourself - I will confine you to the boat until we depart. Forcibly, if need be.
[Well, that's one....plus. Sort of. He'll take it.
The second message hurts, which means he instantly transfers it to that cache of anger he's dedicated to feeding instead.]
That's bullshit.
I want you. No matter what he's done to you.
[Because he'd fix it. There wasn't any other option besides saving Albert and fixing whatever was wrong.
Again with the pause.]
I've already lost you once, I'm not letting it happen again.
[Funny how much easier it was to say these things when he had a moment to write it out instead of being forced to vocalize it. Or maybe it was because, for a couple days, he'd thought he wouldn't be able to say anything to Albert ever again.]
He showed me the truth. I've done nothing but hurt everyone around me. You deserve someone who won't do that. You deserve happiness and security, not whatever this is.
I'm not some misled kid, I know what I want, who I want, who I'm better off with and I say it's you. Whatever 'truth' he's shown you is garbage. He's just trying to get into your head so he can control you! You have to fight it.
[As soon as he was done talking to McCoy, Jet was at Albert's side. He knew Albert had seen the transmission and the fact McCoy didn't know any of them and how that might affect the German didn't sit well with him.
[They've barely been out of the same room for more than five minutes in the past few days. Arguably, this is the longest distance they've been from each other in that time, Albert sitting at the little table with a cup of coffee and his fifth cigarette, Jet lounging on the bed until he'd decided to walk over. He gets a soft but weak smile for his trouble.]
[Jet pulled the other chair around closer to Albert's side of the table and sat in it backwards as he filched one of the German's cigarettes; he needed a moment to think if what he was going to say.
He didn't come up with much so he went his usual tactic of just running with it.]
You okay?
[He nodded towards the phone to indicate which state of 'ok' he was questioning.]
[He looks down at the phone in his hands, smile fading into that tired expression he's been wearing so often.]
It makes sense that they would have tried cloning before, or that some survived the initial onset of the Haze. It was just jarring to hear him again and have him not know me.
[He can't exactly say he understand cause this kind of thing didn't happen really, but even what his imagination came up with hurt, so that much he could get.]
I know it's not the same since he hasn't gone through things with us like the other McCoy, but at least he is here in some form, right? He can't be that different.
I imagine his basic personality is still the same, but he never had the time at Site B with us and he remembers an additional four years on top of it. He remembers me from during the Haze outbreak even, apparently. Something about posters.
[He rubs his face. It irks him that he may be missing chunks of memory, that he may do to others what McCoy had done to him, all inadvertent but no less frustrating for all involved.]
I talked with Leonard quite a lot and he shared things with me about his former life. I'm not sure if I should attempt to forget about all that or not.
