☕ I have him as being born in 1933 (canon birthday September 19th). He was a child in Germany during the Third Reich and subsequent annexation of East Germany by the USSR. Because of this, he was a member of the Deutsches Jungvolk briefly in his childhood, like most German children of the time.☕ Albert was three when the war started and twelve when it ended. ☕ In his younger years, Albert was very shy. He would cling to his mother's skirts whenever a stranger so much as looked at him. This was mostly worked out of him in his school years, but he still remained a quiet child and became a quiet adult, which throws people off of his sometimes incredibly impulsive decisions. ☕ His family was always poor. His father died fighting in WWII as a Wehrmacht infantry soldier at the siege of Leningrad and his mother did what she could to keep them afloat working as a nurse, but as soon as Albert was old enough he sought work as well. He harbors no resentment over this, understanding that they all did what they had to. His mother passed away of an illness when Albert was 23. ☕ At age sixteen, Albert and his mother moved from Dresden to Berlin. He was still a quiet boy and now an outsider in school. A few boys decided to mess with him and pretended to be friendly. Eventually these boys bullied a girl in their social group into seducing Albert and then informing the faculty. The girl felt badly afterwords but no one ever apologized to Albert. He left school soon after to work and help his mother make ends meet. ☕ Albert was interested in going to university in his 20's to earn a degree in literature or music but because of the conditions in East Germany was never able to afford it, nor had access to any kind of non-vocational program. He gave up on an official university education but became a voracious reader to keep himself educated. ☕ While working for a freight trucking company in his 20's, he and a coworker became somewhat close, often visiting the local bar after work. During one such an evening, the coworker (drunk off his ass) suggested they spend the night together. Albert, having had more than enough to drink himself and wanting some companionship, agreed. The encounter made things somewhat awkward at work, but Albert found he enjoyed it just as much as he would with any woman and was somewhat confused by that fact. ☕ Hilda and Albert met in a book shop and they first got to talking over the poetry collection Poppy and Memory by Paul Celan. ☕ Hilda had a cat that wouldn't give Albert the time of day and would sometimes do its business in his shoes or sharpen its claws on his pants or books. It was a major point of contention between Albert and Hilda for awhile but eventually the cat went to go live with a relative of Hilda's to spare Albert from further torment. ☕ Albert and Hilda were engaged in 1964 but she refused to get married until they were free of East Berlin. They made their attempt at escape in early 1965 but the truck crashed in the no man's land between the two parts of the wall. Despite what Albert told the dying Hilda, they never actually made it into West Berlin. ☕ When being held by Black Ghost, after having lost everything including his humanity, Albert developed a severe case of depression. By speaking to him through the vents, Jet was able to calm him down and to this day Jet's rambling still soothes him in his blackest moods. ☕ After supposedly having defeated Black Ghost, Jet revealed he had romantic feelings for Albert. The knowledge caught Albert off guard and it took him a very long time to finally talk to Jet about it. When he finally did, he explained all the reasons it wouldn't work but then said he wanted to give it a try anyway and asked the other cyborg to have patience with him. ☕ Their relationship was fine for awhile but became rocky after a series of events got under Albert's skin and turned his attitude somewhat dour ("Computopia"). They sort this out, but soon after, when they'd been through something particularly difficult ("Monster Island") Jet brought up the fact that they hadn't slept together yet. They get into a heated argument about this and go their separate ways for awhile, Albert returning to Germany. There, he faces a robotic double of himself, the ordeal making him sort his priorities. He seeks Jet out and makes amends for his hesitation. Their relationship remains relatively stable with the occasional explosive fight up until Jet's tantrum and subsequent departure from the group. ☕ After Black Ghost's true defeat and the subsequent founding of the Gilmore foundation, many of the cyborgs went their separate ways. Albert found himself working for the GSG 9 (Grenzschutzgruppe 9 der Bundespolizei). He was awarded the rank of Stabshauptmann (Staff Captain) mostly as a formality and spent his time teaching recruits military history and firearms, as well as having a great deal of paperwork that no one else wanted to do end up on his desk. the science of communications and automatic control systems in both machines and living things.
☕ Albert is one of the most augmented 00 cyborgs. He has cybernetic implants in his brain (to translate languages in real time as he hears them, as well as marginally upgrade his vision and hearing), plating from the base of the neck to his waist, a mechanical right arm (a machine gun housed in the forearm and hand. His shoulder to elbow is also entirely metal for bracing purposes) and left hand (to house a laser knife), and both legs (to house missile launders in both knees). Inside, he's about an equal mix of flesh and mechanics, his skeleton having to be reinforced to manage the pressure it would put on his frame from firing the heavy weapons, as well as having to have his injuries from the initial truck crash repaired.☕ His legs from mid-thigh to below the knee, entire right arm, and left arm from the elbow to fingers are not covered in synthetic skin like the rest of him due to the heat generated by firing the missiles and machine gun being high enough to burn it away if it were present. For the left arm, it's simply because flipping out the knife would tear the skin anyway. ☕ Even though his cybernetics include sensors hooked up like a typical nervous system, there are certain parts of his body where he cannot feel pain or pleasure, only pressure, through this sensor network. These places include his right arm from elbow to fingertips, his left hand along the outside from the base of his pinkie finger to his wrist, and from mid-thigh to a bit below the knee on both legs. This is because of his weaponry, where if he was to be able to feel pain there it would be excruciating when he fired said weapons. ☕ While Albert can't feel pain in the aforementioned places, his right shoulder still gets incredibly sore from prolonged use of his machine gun as the repeated recoil of the arm jogs the connection of the cybernetic arm to the integrated mechanical and organic shoulder. ☕ When first augmented, Albert's body soon rejected the cybernetics and he was cryogenically frozen until the technology could catch up. Even after what was causing the rejection was fixed, Albert still remained in a low level of pain most of the time. Roughly ten years later, his teammates finally convinced him that the technology had improved enough to fix this problem and he went under the knife again. The result is he is now pain free other than soreness from prolonged use of his weaponry and his body has much more natural lines under clothing. His hands, however, still remain metallic so he has to wear gloves everywhere. a settled or regular tendency or practice, esp. one that is hard to give up.
☕ Albert needs coffee to start his morning, otherwise he's mostly unintelligible.☕ His hobbies include alpine skiing and reading classical literature. He's also a soccer fan. ☕ When inspired, Albert will paint or write music. He writes on the piano, but he also is an amateur violinist. ☕ It's incredibly rare, but when comfortable Albert will hum in the shower. He has a rich baritone that carries so he only ever really does this when alone. ☕ When uncomfortable or stressed, Albert turns brooding and smokes like a chimney. When flustered, he tends to work through it in a clinical verbal way, explaining his actions that lead up to the situation causing his embarrassment. If there's something wrong, Albert drinks tea to calm his nerves. He rarely drinks it otherwise. ☕ Beer is his drink of choice, especially dark brews more on the bitter side. He likes to sample different specialty beers from different breweries and countries and his favorites are the winterboks. ☕ He's quite good at games of strategy, such as chess, go, and shogi. His poker face is also impeccable, which frustrates his teammates when playing card games in quiet moments. (of items or people gathered or considered together) of various types or from different sources.
☕ Even without his translator, Albert is fluent in German, Russian, and French and passable in Italian. He can read, write, and understand English but not speak it very well. Thanks to Jet he knows some choice American curse words, though he can't get a handle on the 60's American slang his teammate slips into when excited or agitated.☕ Albert is terrible with animals. It's not that he doesn't like them, it's that they just tend to dislike him for whatever reason. Birds are sometimes an exception. ☕ He's named for his Mother's Father, Albrecht, who was Jewish. Albrecht and his brother Herbert Dressler were claimed by the Holocaust. Albert's mother never found out what happened to them. Albert himself was too young to remember much when it happened. ☕ His middle name is that of his father, who's actually the third Siegfried from his great grandfather. The Heinrich family is blessed with strong, opinionated women however, and Albert's mother insisted he be named for her own father. |
